DHEC public hearing on application for private community dock on Kiawah Spit
We just received the following Public Notice in the mail:
The SCDHEC – Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management has scheduled a public hearing on an application by Kiawah Development Partners II, LLC, 2011-00908-2IY, for a permit to construct a private community dock on the Kiawah River in the proposed Cape Charles development, located on the Kiawah Spit southwest of Beachwalker Park, Kiawah Island, Charleston County, SC.
The public hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at 6:00 PM at the Kiawah Island Town Hall, 21 Beachwalker Drive, Kiawah Island, SC 29455.
All interested persons are urged to attend and voice their comments. Oral statements will be heard at the meeting, but for the sake of accuracy, important facts and statements should be submitted in written form to the president officer at the meeting or mailed to: SCDHEC – Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Managemen, 1362 McMilian Ave., Suite 400, Charleston, SC 29405, Attn: Bill Eiser.
Recently, we were informed that Kiawah Development Partners (KDP) has plans to construct a $500-600 million dollar luxury resort on the island of Saint Kitts. Sutherland Law Firm is supporting KDP in the financing of this venture and we speculate that the success of the Kiawah Spit project is vital to the funding of the Saint Kitts development.
